About Gynecologic Oncology Center
CHA Ilsan Medical Center's Gynecologic Oncology Center is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art medical facilities and medical equipment, as well as recruiting the best medical professionals who are recognized for their abundant clinical experience and research skills in the field of women's cancer from Korea's leading university hospitals. Furthermore, not only are we experts in women’s cancers occurring in reproductive organs, including cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, peritoneal cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, and etc., but also focuses on research, prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of various benign tumors and diseases.
Early Diagnosis and Customized Treatment for Each Individual
Early diagnosis of gynecologic cancer is possible through the efficient medical system of the Gynecologic Oncology Center. Specialists work round-the-clock and provide quick examinations at various high-tech facilities. We are focusing our efforts to provide optimal treatments to individuals by conducting multidisciplinary medical treatment including general surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, cancer rehabilitation, and palliative care.
Fertility Preservation
With the recent trend of diagnosing cancer at a young age and getting married at an older age, the necessity to preserve fertility increases during the treatment of benign tumors of uterus and ovaries as well as women’s cancer. The Gynecological Oncology Center at CHA Ilsan Medical Center introduced the concept of ‘Onco-Fertility Center’ to focus on the treatment of women’s cancer and tumors while also providing fertility preservation treatment for women of childbearing age. In particular, through active consultations with specialists at the Fertility Center, we maximize the possibility of pregnancy.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
In addition, patients of younger age consider the functional aspects as well as cosmetic aspect when deciding on a surgical treatment. Thus, reducing complications caused by surgery and allowing rapid recovery, and less scarring are the functional advantages that are considered. For this purpose, laparoscopic and robotic surgery is performed not only for benign tumor surgery, but also for malignant tumors with high levels of difficulty. In particular, a single-port laparoscopy, which is performed through a single-entry point in the navel area, enables fast recovery with minimal scarring and bleeding. Satisfaction after surgery is very high.
Various and In-Depth Research Activities
In addition to clinical capabilities, we are actively participating in research activities aimed at developing and improving new diagnostic and treatment methods. In addition to research linked with various specialized research institutes within the CHA University, CHA Bio-Complex, Korean Gynecologic Oncology Group (KGOG), we participate in several leading research organizations in Korea and overseas, and actively participates in multi-center clinical research jointly conducted by research organizations to expand its scope and role.
Moving Toward a Wider World
The Gynecological Oncology Center does not limit its medical and research capabilities only within Korea, but aims for globalization. Due to the recent influence of medical Hallyu, the proportion of overseas patients coming to Korea for consultation and treatment is increasing. Furthermore, along with the ‘International Healthcare Center’ we have established diverse religious prayer facilities and medical complex facilities within the hospital to cater to the diversity of foreign patients. CHA Health Systems has established 62 hospitals and clinics in 7 overseas countries and has formed a global network overseas, including 1,700 overseas staff, and has consistently pursued and successfully took part in ‘medical tourism'. As CHA Ilsan Medical Center is closely located to Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport, it is not only easily accessible to foreign patients, but it will also become a new headquarter of medical tourism by attracting foreign patients and working closely with Goyang Province's diversely established cultural Hallyu infrastructure.
